1. Fu Yao had been in love with Pei Yunqing since kindergarten. They were a universally acknowledged perfect match: childhood sweethearts from families of equal standing.

Unfortunately, the night before their engagement, Fu Yao caught her supposedly perfect match and his close-working secretary embracing as they entered an upscale presidential suite.

Fu Yao was about to barge in and catch them in the act when a foxishly alluring man grabbed her wrist. "Don't interrupt their fun."

Fu Yao stared at the hand around her wrist, so handsome it was almost unfair. "The scumbag in there is my boyfriend. What do you want?"

Ye Yansen looked at her with long, narrow, flirtatious eyes, carefree and charming, as if all the world's beauty couldn't compare to a single glance from him. "You just called him a scumbag. How could he be your boyfriend?"

Fu Yao: "..."

He makes a good point. I have no answer.

"Do you know the best way to deal with a cheating scumbag?"

The man's low, husky voice curled around her like a bewitching melody. Fu Yao seemed entranced, gazing at him without a word.

The smile in Ye Yansen's eyes deepened. He raised an eyebrow and said gently, "How about letting the second male lead, who's destined to chase his wife to the crematorium, win instead? Here's my card. Call me anytime."

"?!"

Fu Yao looked down at the gold-plated card, which seemed very real. So even chasing your wife to the crematorium comes with an outreach service now?

Fu Yao looked at the man she'd loved for fifteen years and asked with a sweet smile, "Do you like me?"

Pei Yunqing was taken aback, but he had no time to think it over. He answered at once, "I do."

"Then what do you like about me? Actually, let me put it this way: do you like me for who I am, or for my family's money?"

Fu Yao's speech onstage plunged the room into an awkward silence. Pei Yunqing was so shocked he panicked, grabbing her by the arm. "Fu Yao, stop fooling around!"

Fu Yao tried to wrench herself free. "I'm not fooling around! I don't like you. I like your uncle! I'm going to get engaged to him!"

The best way to get back at a cheating scumbag is to get engaged to the illegitimate uncle he hates most!

But who can tell her why the outreach guy who was supposed to help her chase her wife to the crematorium is coming up onstage?! And calling himself "Uncle"?!

Gu Zhishu raises hell at every turn, not only to highlight how kind and virtuous the heroine, Bei Yinyin, is,

but, more importantly, to add fuel to the leads' melodramatic love story!

The heroine, Bei Yinyin, likes the second male lead, Qin Chen, and everyone is saying their families are about to arrange a marriage.

The spoiled, doomed supporting character Gu Zhishu rushes in and uses methods too explicit to pass censorship to force herself on him.

She threatens the "virtuous and devoted" Qin Chen with a baby that doesn't exist, forcing him to marry her.

The heroine is left to drown her sorrows in a bar, where she meets the male lead, Gu Yanzhi, a rebellious top student who can't stand her!

Just as the rich heiress finally gets over her first love and falls passionately for the poor boy,

Gu Zhishu doubles down on her self-destruction, abandoning her wealthy husband and throwing herself into the arms of the "brother" with whom she was switched at birth.

Her husband finally can't take any more of her self-destructive antics and grants her wish by divorcing her.

She's promptly shipped off to a foreign country by her "brother" and eventually dies miserably on the street. Her devoted ex-husband is the only one who comes to collect her body.

After her death, the original leads live happily ever after, deeply in love.

Her ex-husband, who believes in staying faithful, feels tainted because he was married to her and never remarries, quietly remaining by the original heroine's side.

After learning the plot, Gu Zhishu wants only to stay away from the heroine and live like a motionless fish. She's done following the story!

Stay away from the heroine, and first stay away from the second male lead, Qin Chen!

But by the time she wakes up to the plot, she's already slept with Qin Chen!

No problem!

Qin Chen is supposed to stay virtuous for Bei Yinyin and never marry, right?! And Bei Yinyin won't marry anyone but him, right?!

As long as she keeps quiet and pays him enough hush money, they can both get what they want! A win for everyone!

But the second male lead Qin Chen decides to "follow the plot" and marry her!

No problem!

They can get divorced after the wedding! Then she can collect a hefty settlement!

Divorced and single, with plenty of money! Isn't this the carefree life she's after?!

But gradually, Gu Zhishu realizes that the "plot" is going more and more off the rails...
