A Match Made in Brocade [Ancient to Modern]

A young embroidery artisan from Suzhou vs. a scheming designer

Blurb 1: Jiang Li, an embroidery girl from the Song Dynasty, refused to become the concubine of an official's son. An accident struck while she was fleeing, and when she woke, she had traveled into the unfamiliar twenty-first century. At just sixteen, she was adopted by family friends and became the youngest daughter of the Gu family.

Fortunately, the Gu family was also in the embroidery business. Since Jiang Li couldn't pass the college entrance exam, she decided to return to her old trade and make a living with her embroidery skills.

Her classmates at the embroidery course scoffed. "Learn how to use a sewing machine first."

Three months later, Jiang Li had finally gotten the hang of modern machines.

The course instructor was thrilled. "You've got talent! You're skilled in court embroidery and Bian embroidery, and you're a promising talent in Suzhou embroidery, too!"

The embroidery studio owner was thrilled. "You must have at least ten years of experience!"

An expert from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association exclaimed, "Is this the legendary Gu embroidery technique, lost for so long?!"

Jiang Li was then invited to compete in the national embroidery competition, where inheritors of Chaozhou, Hangzhou, Hunan, and Sichuan embroidery all appeared.

Thus began Jiang Li's legendary journey in embroidery.

2. Mrs. Gu called her eldest son, who was studying abroad, and told him to come home soon to take care of the major events in his life and, while he was at it, inherit the family business.

Gu Weining: "What era are we living in? Arranged marriages for children? I'm not raising a kid."

Later, Gu Weining said, "A Li, we can put the embroidery aside for now. Let's get our marriage certificate first!"
