Blurb:

Lin Qing finds a tiny fish by a stream on South Mountain. It's small, but once it grows, it'll still make a good meal.

But later, he discovers this fish is a little unusual. Every now and then, it drops a couple of pearls. Is it so backed up that it's pooping out stones?

The pearls are rare. After giving the cleaver in his hand some thought, he decides to raise the fish a while longer.

One day, as usual, he goes to the pond to collect pearls, only to be dragged underwater by a pair of hands.

He looks at the person clinging to his neck and crying, with a blue tail resting against his feet, and cries out, "You're not a fish!"

Bai Zhiru rubs against his neck, holding a pile of pearls in his hands. With a coquettish smile, he says, "A Qing, the pearls are yours. Shall we have some little fish together?"

After that, Lin Qing stops going into the pond to collect pearls, because the pearls come to him on their own.

Curious about where his endless supply of pearls comes from, the owners of the shops send people to secretly follow him, but none of them return.

Lin Qing looks at Bai Zhiru, sitting by the pond with a cold expression as he cleans up the blood, and raises an eyebrow. "Did you do this?"

At once, Bai Zhiru throws himself into his arms and starts crying pitifully. "A Qing, those people were so scary. They tried to steal your pearls. I was terrified."

Lin Qing watches him make a tearful complaint, his hands still stained with blood. Does he really not plan to wash them first?
