The Years I Spent Getting Food for the People

Serious synopsis: Zhou Yu was a singular talent, living freely and at ease, like a cloud drifting over the fields. But a foolish ruler held power, foreign enemies invaded, bandits roamed everywhere, and corpses littered the land. Rebellions sprang up across the country to overthrow the current tyrannical rule. Five kings fought for power, splitting the land and leaving the people in misery. After witnessing families torn apart and homes destroyed, Zhou Yu finally put away her little basket and drew her iron sword. At her call, thousands answered. She went to war, crushed her rivals, fought for the Central Plains, and united the land. Who will claim the vast lands of Huaxia? The less pretentious version: Zhou Yu is lazy. She is perfectly content spending her days tending flowers, growing vegetables, and looking at the fields, where weeds flourish and bean sprouts grow thin. It's just that too many people come to visit her, and her rice jar is empty! The current general-in-chief: “Sir, save His Majesty!” Zhou Yu ladles out a bowl of rice. “Eat and drink your fill.” The leaders of the First, Second, and Third Rebel Armies: “Sir, the country needs you to bring peace!” Zhou Yu ladles out half a bowl for herself. “Eat and drink your fill.” The leaders of the five major factions: “Sir, why not join my cause? I have endless treasures and beauties to offer.” Zhou Yu doesn't even ladle out any rice. “We're out of rice today. Come back tomorrow.” The starving refugees: “Sir...” Zhou Yu slaughters her only old hen, steams a whole pot of rice, and smiles warmly. “Come, eat.” “From now on, there'll be rice and meat at every meal.” Also known as: The Traitor in a Troubled Age Theme: People need food to live. Skip one meal and you'll be starving.
