Lin Yusui is an ordinary employee at the Bureau of Supernatural Investigations. The work is dangerous, but the pay is good. He's quite happy with his life as it is. Until Pei Chengmu, the Bureau of Supernatural Investigations' most powerful and mysterious director, suffers an accident and falls into a permanent coma while dealing with a supernatural incident. The Bureau's senior officials urgently convene a meeting. They must select one person from among thousands of employees to enter Pei Chengmu's dream and save him. The way to save him is to kill him in the dream. To select the candidate, each employee will enter the hospital room alone and speak to the sleeping Pei Chengmu. Anyone who causes a fluctuation in Pei Chengmu's brainwaves will be chosen. Lin Yusui thinks he's just going through the motions. But when he walks in and gives a lazy greeting, Pei Chengmu, who hasn't responded to anyone else, suddenly shows violent fluctuations in his brainwaves, and the machine lets out a piercing series of beeps. For reasons unknown, Lin Yusui is chosen and sent by the Bureau's senior officials into Pei Chengmu's dream. He must keep killing Pei Chengmu in his dreams until he can wake him up completely. Lin Yusui plays all kinds of roles in Pei Chengmu's dreams. Whether he's a classmate, friend, or colleague, he kills Pei Chengmu every time. Each time he kills Pei Chengmu, Pei Chengmu's consciousness grows a little clearer, but his dreams become increasingly strange. Lin Yusui's roles grow more and more intimate with Pei Chengmu. He even becomes his childhood friend, his unattainable first love, and his lover. Still, Lin Yusui doesn't hesitate to kill him. Until the final dream. The moment Lin Yusui opens his eyes, he discovers that Pei Chengmu has locked him up. Pei Chengmu seems to have gone mad. He invents one wonderful memory after another for them, then places a dagger in Lin Yusui's hand. "Suishui, pierce my heart."
