Yu Li was born knowing he was cursed with a fate that brought calamity.
He caused his mother's death, brought about his brothers' deaths, and was blamed for the decline of the nation and the invasion of demons.
Though he was a prince, he was treated as less than the lowliest servant.
Only Ying Chaosheng treated him differently.
Ying Chaosheng was a sword cultivator whose mission was to exterminate demons. In the entire vast kingdom, he was the only one who didn't show Yu Li any hatred.
He taught Yu Li to read, gave him malt candy, and even visited him at night to sit with him on the palace wall and count the stars.
So even though Yu Li knew Ying Chaosheng cultivated the unfeeling path, he still harbored a little unspoken, forbidden hope.
But when they reunited after Yu Li came of age, he discovered that Ying Chaosheng's eyes were filled with Yu Li's own brother, the one blessed by heaven.
- So can a sword cultivator of the unfeeling path fall in love?
Later, a demonic tide broke out, and his brother was possessed as well. Yu Li fought with all his strength to destroy the demons. Just as he was about to succeed, a sword beam cut across the sky. It wasn't there to destroy the demons. It pierced Yu Li through the heart.
- Yes, a sword cultivator of the unfeeling path can fall in love.
But the one he fell for was someone else, and Yu Li was just an insignificant substitute.
As he lay dying, Yu Li put a jade pendant back into Ying Chaosheng's hand.
Ying Chaosheng had given it to him when they parted years ago. Yu Li had treasured it for years, but now it was covered in blood that could never be wiped away.
He said, "I'm sorry. I can't return it to you in its original condition."
Then Yu Li overcame his tribulation, ascended to the Celestial Realm, and destroyed his own memories. From then on, everything in the mortal world was no more than a long dream.
All that remained was the unfeeling, desireless God of War from the Celestial Realm.
During a battle between immortals and demons, he pointed his sword at the supposedly invincible Demon Lord and attacked without mercy.
But the new ruler of the Demon Realm, a demon who had broken free of the unfeeling path, abruptly dropped all his defenses the instant he saw him.
And then...
He was pierced through the heart by a sword.
A sword cultivator who pretends to follow the unfeeling path but is actually a Demon God, in the attacking role x a free-spirited young god from the Celestial Realm, in the receiving role
#Only later did I learn that I was the Demon God's deceased, unrequited love, his white moonlight.#
[Reader's Guide]
1. Old-school, melodramatic, angsty fake-substitute romance with a groveling pursuit. The attacking lead is burned to ashes, both physically and psychologically, and this takes up at least fifty percent of the story.
2. The leads have eyes only for each other. Everything is a misunderstanding, and it will all be resolved.
