A Small-Town Lawyer in the 1990S

At first, I only wanted to be a laid-back little lawyer. But later, I realized I'd somehow ended up doing all these things. What brought me this far? Fate, and the passion in my heart that had yet to fade. "Sis! I'm obviously the one who brought you this far!" I heard a voice behind me as I sat in my wheelchair. Well, it all started because of my unreliable younger sister. A lawyer heroine who wants to lie flat but can't × a sarcastic computer genius and heir to a powerful family in Guangdong (The stereotypical Guangdong rich kid, the sort who'd go to a remote mountain village to buy free-range chicken.) In 1996, the state introduced a new policy ending guaranteed job assignments for university graduates. Fang Zhen graduated that year and chose to return to her family's fishing village to lie flat and work as a lawyer who barely made any money. What gave Fang Zhen the confidence to lie flat? The land where this fishing village stood now had a very famous name: the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Fang Zhen's parents hadn't been born lucky enough to get rich. They'd been sent to Shenzhen as educated youth during the Down to the Countryside Movement, and after the college entrance exams were reinstated, neither of them got into university. The village also allotted them a homestead... Fang Zhen, who had no money worries, thought she could spend her days lazing about. But then her cousin came to ask her to help a friend who'd been kidnapped and taken home to be forced into marriage, and the gears of fate began to turn. "Stop! Arranged marriage is illegal! You're unlawfully detaining her!" The more good deeds she did, the more Fang Zhen realized: Wait, how did I become one of the country's Top Ten Lawyers and an Outstanding Young Person of the Special Economic Zone? Note: This is an alternate version of reality. I'll refer to laws from 1990 to 2010, but the story comes first. The laws mainly serve the plot. The heroine uses a wheelchair because an injury makes it difficult for her to walk. She isn't disabled or seriously ill. The story is written in third person. Theme: The significance of legal aid
