The Bright Moon Catches a Branch

Bai Zhi had been raised by the Wan family since childhood. She knew who would inherit the family, and that sticking with Wan Xinci was her best chance at a good life. She played the role of his loyal sidekick to the letter. At school, she copied his homework, brought him meals, and delivered his love letters. Outside school, she stood up for him and took the beatings and scoldings in his place. The naive young master would rent out an entire restaurant for her birthday, invite everyone she had ever fallen out with, and tell them, "Zhi Zhi is my best friend." Countless people called her scheming and accused her of trying to climb the social ladder. Countless others envied her, because she was the most important person in Wan Xinci's life. Only Bai Zhi knew how much she hated Wan Xinci, and how much she loathed the person she became by his side. Wan Xinci had everything. He was a brilliant, dazzling sun, loved by everyone, while she crept through the mud, an insignificant shadow. At eighteen, Bai Zhi finally spoke the truth for the first time: "They were right. I was only ever good to you for selfish reasons. I really hate you." She crushed the hope in the young man's eyes. Later, Bai Zhi left the Wan family, and Wan Xinci went abroad to study. Bai Zhi thought she was finally free. Until a year later, when Wan Xinci returned and blocked her path. He was still bright and dazzling as the sun, his expression resolute and unyielding. He told Bai Zhi, "I'm not the sun. I only want to be the moon hanging from your branch." After spending so long in the dark, even she longed to embrace the light. [A gloomy heroine and a sunny hero who fights with everything he has to pull her out of the darkness. Happy ending.] Theme: Everyone deserves to be loved
