Deep Spring

Chunshen was clever, warmhearted, and perceptive.

She believed in doing her duty in the position she held, and never dreamed of reaching above her station.

For now, she would be a good maid. Someday, she would find an honest farmer or bookkeeper and live out a quiet life.

But then she met the son of Physician Pei. Taken by his handsome face, she looked at him a couple of times, never guessing that he would take an interest in her.

The first thing the newly crowned top scholar, Pei Yongan, did after passing the imperial exams was visit Censor Guan and ask for his daughter's hand in marriage.

Censor Guan named his daughters, from the eldest to the youngest, but Pei only shook his head.

When asked which daughter he wanted to marry, the top scholar replied, “Chunshen.”

Once, Pei Yongan had asked Chunshen, his heart full of unspoken feelings, “What kind of man would you like to marry someday?”

At the time, Chunshen thought she would probably marry a servant or a farmer, so she answered, “I want to marry someone strong who can work hard!”

Pei Yongan: ...

The very next day, word spread that the son of Physician Pei had fainted from exhaustion while moving medicinal herbs.

· A little maid from a grand household x the newly crowned top scholar

· A little practice piece, updated irregularly. Corrections are welcome.

· Little focus on household intrigue, more about the warmth and coldness of human nature. A sweet little historical romance.

Theme: She was just a tiny speck in the mortal world, yet she held all his devotion
