The Anti-Jonah Complex

It's graduation season again. Everyone else is happily holding offers from overseas universities, while dark clouds gather over the Chu family.

Miss Chu looks at the admission offer from some obscure foreign diploma mill, then at Chu Yanwu, bruised and swollen, kneeling on the floor. She curls her lips into a smile and kicks her good-for-nothing little brother straight into the repeat-year class at the high school affiliated with a university in Huajing.

"You don't want to be an international student? Then go find out what it's like to compete with thousands of others for one spot!"

At the imposing school gates, young master Chu slings a bag over one shoulder and presses a finger to his ear. His older sister's furious shouting still echoes in his mind.

He scoffs and smooths his shoulder-length orange-dyed hair. "Fine, I'll take the college entrance exam. How hard can it be?"

Looking at the class full of "older" young blossoms, the yellow-haired young master Chu swaggered to the back row under everyone's curious stares.

The dean passed by, spotted the unusual hair color in the back row, stopped to look him over, and narrowed his eyes.

The homeroom teacher came into the classroom and gave him another look without saying a word. She announced a new "study buddy" policy for the semester, pairing everyone up except young master Chu.

Chu Yanwu felt singled out. He stood up, ready to protest the unfairness, but the homeroom teacher beckoned someone in from outside. A tall, clean-cut, breathtakingly beautiful young man entered the classroom. The teacher swept her hand toward Chu Yanwu in the corner. "You two are partners."

Chu Yanwu met the young man's eyes, then plopped back down on his butt.

Damn, why is it my ex-boyfriend!
