I Opened My Eyes and Saved the World

Ji Zhuangnan has been having the same dream every night lately.

In the dream, he stands on a rooftop. Below him is a vast horde of black monsters, baring their claws and teeth. Their shapes are terrifying, and they swarm everywhere, scrambling to climb up to where he is.

Every time, he joins forces with a strange man to drive these creatures of darkness back underground.

Ji Zhuangnan has always thought it was just a dream.

Then one day, while investigating a report of a mass fainting incident, he accidentally ends up on that very rooftop.

A monster crouches on top of a victim and bares its teeth at him.

Ji Zhuangnan: ...Well, would you look at that.

From then on, the monsters from his dreams appear in real life.

And he seems to be the only one who can see them.

But there's more to the recurring dream.

That man kisses his brow and eyes, holds him tight around the waist, and presses close to him, cheek to cheek, lying intertwined, making love with desperate abandon... And every time, Ji Zhuangnan wakes just before they kiss, without fail.

When he sees the man on the rooftop that day, Ji Zhuangnan thinks he's still dreaming.

So he kisses him.

But this time

“...”

The man's gaze darkens. He grips the back of Ji Zhuangnan's neck

and deepens this utterly real kiss.
