Punishing: Gray Raven. As an Ascendant, Of Course I Stir Up Trouble

The moment the modification failed, I had a severe Punishing reaction, and they abandoned me to be disposed of. That's when I finally understood:

Life isn't a game. It only gets worse.

[File: Enemy encountered en route to Liberating D-29 City. Highly infected with Punishing Virus. Extremely dangerous. Direct confrontation not recommended.]

This story is set in the game Punishing: Gray Raven. The protagonist is not a commandant. The main story takes on a serious tone, better suited to the game's own dark, post-apocalyptic setting.

Theme: It only gets worse.
