Story blurb:

Looking at the three filthy children in front of her, scavenging for food, Lin Chuxia knows they have a bright future ahead. They'll become major villains, take revenge on society, and take revenge on her, too.

That's because she transmigrated into a book, a period novel. Lin Chuxia is the stepmother in the story, who abuses the three young future villains in every way imaginable. In the end, she starves to death on the street, unable even to find scraps to eat...

Lin Chuxia takes the three little ragamuffins home, scrubs them clean, and takes them into the mountains to dig up bamboo shoots and gather wild greens. From an early age, she teaches them to love their country, be kind, and study hard...

While away on a mission, Xie Jingming has a nightmare. After he dies, his three children are abused by Lin Chuxia, the woman he just married. They grow up scavenging for food and working to support her, and if anything displeases her, she curses and beats them.

As soon as his mission is over, he rushes home with candy, biscuits, and dried meat, ready to throw Lin Chuxia out. But he finds the three chubby, freshly scrubbed kids happily gathered around her, giving her everything he brought back.

Xie Jingming is furious. He wants to know what kind of love potion Lin Chuxia has fed them.

In the morning, Lin Chuxia enthusiastically hugs the cool eldest child, planting exaggerated kisses on his cheeks as she praises him: Our eldest is amazing! What would Mom do without you?

At noon, Lin Chuxia confidently wraps an arm around her gentle second child and lifts him up with dramatic flair: Which field does our second child want to conquer today? Mom will come with you.

In the evening, Lin Chuxia tenderly picks up her timid third child and settles him gently on her lap, soothing him: Our third child is the bravest. You didn't cry at all...

Later, the tough-as-nails Xie Jingming lies across Lin Chuxia's lap and shamelessly begs for attention: When are you going to comfort me, too?

[Important]: The three children are not Xie Jingming's biological children. He adopted them after their father, his late comrade, died.
