When the Tide of an ABO Engagement Recedes

When news broke that the Su and Gu families were arranging a marriage, everyone said Su Shijin was out of luck. Everyone knew that the eldest Gu son had been missing for twenty years and was found in an extremely backward mountain village. His gland was damaged, so he was surely no good in bed. He was gloomy and might even be a psychopath. Su Shijin, on the other hand, thought his intended was rich and handsome, with a damaged gland, poor bedroom skills, and no lifelong marking. They’d divorce after a year, and he’d get half the family fortune. There was no way he could lose. On their wedding day, Su Shijin laid down three rules for the alpha. 1. This is a marriage of convenience. We each get what we need, and we don’t cross the line. 2. We sleep in separate rooms. 3. During your rut, take suppressants and handle it yourself. Don’t come to me. See rule one. Gu Weiyang said nothing and nodded in agreement. Then, when Su Shijin unexpectedly went into heat, all three rules were broken one by one. The next day, Su Shijin held his nearly broken back and trembling, aching legs. He looked at the alpha kneeling by the bed, ears red and looking awkward as he offered him warm milk, and decided the rumors had to be wrong. Wasn’t his gland supposed to be damaged? Wasn’t he supposed to be bad in bed and moody as hell? The rumors were all lies! - One day, Su Shijin was annoyed by the alpha in rut and kicked him in the face. The alpha didn’t get angry. He just held Su Shijin’s ankle, gently rubbed it, and asked, “Why is it so cold?” Then he tucked it into his own shirt. Su Shijin glanced at him lazily and said nothing. Seeing no reaction, Gu Weiyang inched over and hugged him like a bear, sniffing at the scent of his pheromones. The sniffing tickled Su Shijin’s neck. He laughed and scolded, “Gu Weiyang, are you a dog?” Gu Weiyang paused, leaned close to his ear, and gave a low bark. “Woof.” - Reading guide: #Marriage first, love later.
