Completed works: A Guide to Teaming Up with the Villain, Can I Have a Broken Wuchang?

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
---- Oscar Wilde
In the mid-eighteenth century, a super-mineral called "Di" was discovered, ushering the Ogran Empire into the age of great steam.
Cars, horse-drawn carriages, and hissing steam trains all shared the roads. The intricate machines powered by gears and clockwork, and the miners laboring day and night by hand deep underground, all strove to prove their worth.
Science and magic stood opposed yet advanced side by side. The super-mineral protected people, while also magnifying the primal evil in their hearts.
It was a peaceful, yet unsettling, age.
"If it were up to you, which would you choose: the dagger or the rose?" The man's deep blue eyes gazed at Yaluo. The shining medal on his chest proclaimed his prestigious status.
Yaluo immediately put on a pitiful expression. "The rose... A dagger is far too dangerous."
The man said, "Yaluo, I want the truth."
Knowing she couldn't deceive the man before her, Yaluo tore off her mask and dropped the pretense, revealing a wicked smile. "I want both. I'll kill you with the dagger, then lay the rose on your corpse."
Edward looked coldly at Yaluo, whose left mechanical lower leg had been removed and who was bound so tightly she couldn't move. After a long while, Edward's lips slowly curved into a lovely smile. He walked up to Yaluo, leaned down, and kissed her eyelids.
"Too bad you missed your chance. You should have struck when I kissed you last night."
A cunning, wolfish top x a sweet-on-the-outside, dark-on-the-inside drama queen bottom
Reader's Guide:
1. Yaluo is the bottom. Both leads have disabilities to varying degrees. Steampunk elements are limited; the main focus is mystery. The pacing is very slow, with an episodic structure. The blurb only conveys the setting and characters.
2. The country and events are entirely fictional. Don't compare them to reality or take them as real. The author is very happy with all the strange original settings.
3. This story is meant to be a change of pace, and it's the author's first attempt at Western fantasy, a genre they're not very good at. Please be gentle if you don't like it, and don't make personal attacks. Thank you.
Theme: No matter how hard life is, we must still look to the stars and hold on to hope.
