The Beloved Little Fox Cub of Two Worlds

[An early work. Read with caution.]

Tu Shan Yao was the beloved only youngling of the Shanhai Realm, but fell into the human world when the two realms collided.

Remembering the thirteen truths his elders had taught him, “Treat it like an outing,” “If they won't listen, fight,” and “If you can't win, call for backup,” the nine-tailed fox cub held back his tears and bravely picked up his storage bag, packed with rare treasures, before setting out to explore the human world.

And so...

A foreign online influencer was filming by the roadside when a motorcycle thief sped past and snatched his bag.

A white-haired little boy dashed over, kicked the motorcycle over, and retrieved the bag.

Livestream viewers: “Chinese kung fu?? Wait, Mom, come look at this little immortal!”

When a large-scale child abduction incident broke out in the capital, the whole country watched as the police raced to the scene.

But when they arrived, they found the children eating happily and the traffickers wailing and begging to be taken away.

Everyone: “??”

When savage beasts attacked, mountains crumbled and the country faced a crisis.

The little cub pulled a summoning artifact from his storage bag and called on his elders for help. The Vermilion Bird and the divine dragon appeared.

Everyone: “Our worldview is collapsing in real time. This isn't how the story is supposed to go!!”

After the two worlds merged...

A scientist who used immortal herbs to solve the world's most challenging diseases: “Yao Yao is a gift from heaven!”

Miss Jingwei, chewing gum while playing on her phone: “I never would've cleared this level without Yao Yao!”

The national defense department, equipped with a new version of the defensive barrier: “Thank you, little Yao Yao, for helping keep the peace!”

Yao Yao held a “Peace Ambassador” certificate awarded by the country in one hand and a delicious cake made by a five-star chef in the other, with a little red flower pinned to his forehead as a reward from Teacher Bai Ze.

Somehow, had he become the darling of the whole world?

Reader's guide:

1. A sweet, doting story about raising an adorable child, along with building a strong and prosperous nation and taking technology in unexpected directions. The everyday-life plot develops at a leisurely pace.

2. Set in a fictional world, featuring all kinds of “Classic of Mountains and Seas” mythical beasts. Their personalities and abilities include my own interpretations. If you argue with my version, you're right.

3. The cub is incredibly powerful and has a strong sense of justice, but occasionally acts like a little rascal. The fluffy white-haired dumpling is adorable.

4. An attempt at a new kind of story.

5. Content warning: Chapters 6–16 feature a very unlikable rebellious girl who does something wrong. She faces the consequences and apologizes, and she has no further role after that. If you can't accept her actions, it's best not to upset yourself by reading those chapters. But I really don't think she's morally corrupt or lacking in character.
