[The same-genre follow-up, Has the Kitten Been Mischievous Today?, is now out. Please add it to your reading list~] Blurb: Fei Yan, a medical student, wakes up transported to ancient times, where she has become an orange cat who can only meow. She is picked up by Chen Miansheng, a sick and deaf man from town. The System tells her she can turn back into a human only when someone truly falls for her. But the only person she spends time with every day is Chen Miansheng. - So Fei Yan starts catching little fish, stealing herbs, and cutely rolling around to beg for cuddles, finding new ways to do it every day. Fei Yan: What bad intentions could a little orange cat have? She just wants to be good to Chen Miansheng. - Later, Fei Yan secretly manages to cure Chen Miansheng completely. Fei Yan proudly swishes her tail: Do you like me? Chen Miansheng bends down and scoops the orange cat into his arms, smiling helplessly. “How did this little thing get even fatter?” Fei Yan's swishing tail goes stiff: @#%&??? This cat can't do this anymore. This cat is tired. Chen Miansheng, you have no heart. - Chen Miansheng is famous in Dongfeng Town as a sick, deaf, impossibly kind man. He wheezes every few steps and coughs every few more. No matter how loudly people speak, he can't hear them. Everyone says he seems to wear a mask, always calm and unruffled. That mask only shows signs of cracking after he brings a little orange cat home. On the first day with the little orange cat, the Four Books and Five Classics in Chen Miansheng's home are shredded beyond recognition. On the second day, a huge slab of cured meat disappears from Chen Miansheng's kitchen. On the nth day, Chen Miansheng is cured, but the little orange cat is nowhere to be found. Chen Miansheng frantically searches every corner of town, but can't find a trace of the little orange cat. Then he returns home and sees a woman with skin as white as snow asleep on his bed. Chen Miansheng freezes for a moment. When he spots the cat collar he made himself around her neck, he feels reassured, just as he always does. He gently squeezes her neck and asks with a warm smile, “Miss, who are you, and where is my cat?” Reading Guide: 1. One-on-one romance, with a sweet, slice-of-life feel. 2. Blurb for What Bad Intentions Could a Little Cat Have? Yu Yao wakes up one day and discovers she has turned into a tiny kitten. Fluffy, round, and... exactly like the one her nemesis, Demon Venerable Yan Qi, keeps by his side. Yu Yao turns her head and comes face-to-face with Yan Qi's trademark gray-green slit pupils. She realizes she's currently being held in the man's palm as he idly plays with her. Yu Yao: Oh, okay, just remove the “exactly like” part :) - She has no idea how to turn back yet, but Yu Yao has no intention of missing this chance to get revenge on her nemesis up close. So... She raises a little paw and swipes Yan Qi across the face. “Meow! (I'll scratch you to death today, you little punk!)” The Demon Venerable, who had been considering how to get rid of the boring little cat: ? Yan Qi lowers his eyes and squints at the kitten in his palm, who used to do nothing but tremble fearfully by his side. A few seconds later, he wipes the blood from his face with his fingertip and curls his lips into an amused smile. - Rumor has it that Demon Venerable Yan Qi is cold-blooded and merciless, with a mercurial temper. Recently, on a whim, he started keeping a half-month-old kitten by his side. The little demons in his lair bet that the poor kitten won't last a week in the Demon Venerable's hands. What's more, some demon has shared reliable news: The kitten smashed the Demon Venerable's jade thumb ring two days ago; Yesterday, it shredded a letter he hadn't sent yet; Today, it knocked over the furnace he uses to make pills. The little demons: Oh no, is the Demon Venerable going to use the kitten as fuel for his pill furnace today? But months later, a little demon happens to catch the Demon Venerable holding the kitten in his arms, his long, pale fingers tapping its nose. “I've fed you so many spirit pills and elixirs. How come you still haven't learned to transform? Are you an idiot?” Yu Yao: Why would she transform? So he can do this and that and even that other thing to her? Who's the idiot here? [Note: The blurb may be revised again, but the core premise won't change. The male lead's original form is a snake.] Theme: Always remain hopeful about life
