Reader's Guide
*The story takes place in New York's Chinatown in the 1950s. For certain sensitive reasons, some real historical events have been reimagined. The original history is respected so long as politics aren't involved. Aside from the alternate-history elements and characters, everything is based on sources that can be verified.
*Like The Gilded Age, this novel was not originally written in Chinese. The author first came up with it in English, then translated it into Chinese, so the translation style is strong, with lots of long sentences and paragraphs. Please keep that in mind.
