[Iron Man] Re: In the Name of Protection

[I am Iron Man.]

As an agent, a Level 5 S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, his life bore witness to the rise and fall of superheroes, as well as the destruction and rebirth of the world.

He was once reduced to dust by a snap of the fingers from an invader from another world, only to be restored in an instant.

In the final battle, everyone was mobilized. Before he could even figure out what was happening, his superiors had assembled him, and he stepped through the yellow ring and onto the battlefield.

The battlefield was chaos, and one careless mistake could cost him his life. He ran across it, fighting with all his might to kill the invaders attacking his home, one after another.

He was just a nobody, an extra who could die on a mission at any moment.

Yet he survived to the end, witnessing that rainbow-bright snap from an inconspicuous corner.

It rang out, crisp and clear, and together with those words, it saved the world.

"A heart of iron, a mortal body, one person's strength, standing shoulder to shoulder with the gods."

Watching the hero fall, those words surfaced in his mind without warning.

It was an image he would never forget for the rest of his life.

Much later, he collected the deeds of that hero's life.

From scraps of words and other people's memories, he wrote the hero's autobiography.

"He deserved a better life."

Those were the words he wrote at the end of the autobiography.

Making up for the regrets of Avengers: Endgame. Iron Man has to live!

Primarily set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The timeline and plot are chaotic, so canon purists beware.

The protagonist has a save-and-reload ability. Pairing with Tony Stark. Iron Pepper shippers beware.

The heroes belong to everyone; any out-of-character moments are on me.

Theme: Iron Man must not die!!!
