From middle school through high school, Tsukiyama Lily was always transferring schools.
Tokyo, Kanagawa, Hyogo. Teiko, Rikkai, Inarizaki.
The most popular boys at school always loved playing sports: basketball, tennis, volleyball.
Handsome boys came and went: a model, a young master from a wealthy family, a sickly beauty, and twin brothers.
They passed by Lily's window, chatting and laughing amid the bustle, drawing cries of excitement.
Back then, they were falling secretly in love, hoping to catch Lily's attention.
But she never once turned her head.
Act 1
They fled the noisy party and escaped to the riverbank.
The river murmured in the evening, beneath the dim yellow streetlights.
Under the shadowy lights, Lily gave her skirt a swish, leaving the crowd, Tokyo, and all the hazy darkness of the night behind her.
Akashi spun her around, and for one moment, he mistook it for eternity.
Act 2
"Yanagi, what are you calculating?"
"The probability of you choosing between the club captain and vice-captain."
Tsukiyama Lily listened to Renji's analysis and said, "You're so cold, Yanagi."
"What about you?" she asked. What are the odds that you'll choose me?
Or rather... do you want me to choose you?
Unfortunately, Renji was the cold Yanagi, and the cold Yanagi said the probability was zero.
Lily shrugged as if she didn't care. As she passed him, her manner shifted in a subtle way, and Yanagi sensed her disdain.
She was calling him a hypocrite.
Act 3
Gusts of wind swept in, making the white sheets hung out to dry billow and sway.
Lily and Atsumu stood among them, talking quietly. Their shadows tangled together on the wind-tossed sheets, rising and falling like an intimate kiss.
Osamu stood in the distance, watching the two close shadows with a gloomy gaze before turning away.
