Believe in Science

Zhang Yuanjun: Believe in science! Stop going on about a hundred days of foundation building, ten months of pregnancy, three years of nursing, and nine years of meditation! Science and technology are the primary productive forces! Young people, believe in science! You think the Eight Characters of a person's birth can predict their fate? You think Zi Wei Dou Shu can reconstruct their personality? You think astral projection can separate your soul from your body? You think mastering the Zhouyi means you can read the historical landscape and grasp the world's greater trends with a handful of yarrow stalks and a few copper coins? Young people, put aside those impractical fantasies in your heads and believe in science!

Liu Yan Ke: Sister, I understand all that, but could you first move the spirit sword away from my neck?

A cultivator who loves science but can't keep up intellectually, Zhang * a genius with sky-high IQ who wants to cultivate immortality but lacks the talent, Liu

[How can a people with such a highly developed spiritual life as the Chinese have failed to develop science? This must be an optical illusion, because China does indeed have a kind of “science,” whose “standard text” is the Book of Changes. But, like many other things in China, the principles behind this science are entirely different from those of our science.]

Jung, The Secret of the Golden Flower

* A silly, lighthearted story. I got stuck for ages trying to work out another yandere story, Sin 2, and felt like I'd waste away if I didn't write something, so this story came about.

* No brains or logic here. I'm writing on a whim, so read it on a whim.

Theme: Science and the occult both describe the truth; the Great Way returns to unity
