Coming next: “The Country Girl's Rise to Prosperity.” See the blurb below, and feel free to add it to your collection.
Chen Miaomiao, a food lover, wakes up inside a book as a girl whose parents are dead and whose uncles don't want to take her in. She can't compete with the female lead, who's been given a childhood sweetheart by fate.
The original male lead: “I only see you as a younger sister. I won't marry you. I only love her.”
The original female lead: “You're my best friend, and he's the one I love most. Who can make this work for me?”
Chen Miaomiao: “I can.”
When the family property is being divided, Chen Miaomiao asks only for a remote courtyard, using the opportunity to pack her things and leave the household at top speed.
She knows that a renowned academy will soon open beside the courtyard. Her goal is to set up a canteen inside it.
What's so great about having a canteen at a school? A captive market every day, sleeping in until she wakes naturally, eating whatever she wants, and getting to look at all those handsome young men! Isn't this lazy life just perfect?
But can someone explain why a certain teacher keeps coming to eat at her place every day? She feels too awkward to charge him.
One day, she finally works up the courage to ask him for the money.
The teacher: “I'm a poor teacher. I have no tuition money. If you want money, I don't have any. But I can offer myself.”
Later, Chen Miaomiao stands in the mansion of a first-rank scholar, looking at the teacher. “A poor teacher? No money? You're a first-rank Grand Academician. What's with this mansion?”
The teacher: “Both teachers and Grand Academicians are appointed by the emperor. The emperor bestowed the mansion on me. Everything else belongs to my wife, and so do I.”
Chen Miaomiao: “...”
A lighthearted food story. Watch the heroine go from lazybones to a tycoon running a one-stop shop for food, drink, fun, and games at the academy, and watch the hero flirt like there's no tomorrow!
Note: 1. This story is set in a fictional world. Ingredients are inspired by the late Ming, including potatoes and chili peppers, but the local customs and culture are fictional.
2. At the editor's request, this story will be available to paying readers starting April 14, 2022. The chapters released that day will be combined into three updates. I hope you'll continue to support it.
A quick plug for my next story, “The Country Girl's Rise to Prosperity.” Here's the blurb:
Handicraft blogger Jiang Ling wakes up one day as a country girl with the same name in a novel.
Her parents are dead, leaving her with two younger siblings. Most importantly, the family has only one bowl of coarse rice and eight copper coins left.
Jiang Ling takes the eight coins out to buy grain and unexpectedly learns that there's a bamboo grove nearby. Her eyes light up. “Talk about finding just what you need! It's time to put my old skills to use!”
From bamboo and straw weaving to baskets, hampers, trays, fans, and bamboo mats, there's nothing she can't make. She starts by hawking her wares on the streets, then sets up a little stall, rents a shop, and eventually opens one in the capital. With her clever hands, she weaves a happy life for herself and uncovers the secret behind her father's early death.
The Pei family has served in the Ministry of Works for generations. Pei Zhao's grandfather was once Minister of Works and hopes his descendants will follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, one of his sons is obsessed with solving cases, and the other with martial arts. Among the grandchildren, only the old-fashioned Pei Zhao excels at his studies and seems obedient. His grandfather has high hopes for him.
But he's hopeless with his hands!
A little scene: To keep from disappointing his grandfather, Pei Zhao sneaks out on the day of his grandfather's fiftieth birthday to buy him a gift.
His fun-loving, spendthrift cousin insists on tagging along, so Pei Zhao has no choice but to bring the little pest with him. At Jiang Ling's newly opened shop, his cousin can't bear to put any of the items down. After buying his own things, Pei Zhao remembers his aunt's advice and solemnly tells him, “Don't let your love of toys distract you from what's important.”
Pei Zhao has always been serious and old-fashioned, and his cousin is so afraid of him that he lowers his head and picks just one thing.
Much later, Pei Zhao visits Jiang Ling's shop in the capital every day, buying something each time.
At the end of the month, when she's going over the books, Pei Zhao comes by again. Jiang Ling tilts her head and smiles. “Lord Pei, don't let your love of toys distract you from what's important!”
The most upright and serious man in the Ministry of Works, Pei Zhao, turns red from his face to the tips of his ears.
Theme: Be self-reliant and independent, and create a happy life with your own hands.
I even read two articles by the author and they are both very good!
After reading it, I feel that my wife's writing is very good. Hahaha, I like reading this kind of food article and I feel hungry.
"My sister" is a big thorn in the side of the author~ your sister
It's like I'm looking at myself... I can never catch a fish, even if someone who doesn't know how to fish like me can catch one or two...
