One day, the butler found an unusual letter in the mailbox at Wayne Manor. The envelope named Batman, who lived in the Batcave, as the recipient, but the letter itself began, "To my dear Bruce."
These mysterious letters appeared once a week. Most were long streams of praise: "Hey, cool guy, you were the superhero who accompanied me through my childhood. I dream of being your Robin!"
Some were odd but packed with information: "Happy 80th birthday, old Bat. Hope the real Ben Affleck appears on screen again. Of course, Bale’s classic Dark Knight..."
Some contained furious curses and complaints: "Damn you, Tom King!! Baby Bruce!!! Mommy won’t let you marry Catwoman, waaaaaah, stay away from her!! Wouldn’t a three-way with you and the other two members of SWB be better???"
Besides this guy called TK, the person most often targeted was someone they knew, and not someone they would have expected: "B, when are you going to beat the crap out of the Riddler again?"
Batman didn’t plan to respond until he fully understood what was going on. Then he received a letter that spelled danger: "I’ve always looked up to you, Batman. But I’m sorry, I just can’t hold on anymore... I can’t see the point... I can’t see any hope..."
Bruce began writing a reply.
Not every letter was addressed to Batman, but since they appeared at Wayne Manor, they deserved to be screened by the Bat.
"Dear Nightwing..."
So Dick will become a police officer in Bludhaven one day?
"Mr. Joker, I’m your fan! The impossible choice you rigged in TDK was just so, so, so cool!!"
...Rigged, impossible, hmm?
"NANANANANA! Batman!!"
Looks like something strange has snuck in...
[The Superhero IP Planning Headquarters has opened a simulated mailbox where fans can pour their hearts out to their favorite heroes. If they’re lucky, they might receive a reply written by staff in the hero’s own voice.]
* The dimensional crossover is one-sided. The fans don’t know where their letters really go.
* Besides handwritten letters, there will also be audio recordings, videos, and emails. Emails may include attachments.
* The letters’ circulation may randomly expand to the multiverse, including hero to hero, villain to hero, and more.
Look forward to the rich guys trading jabs from afar; Lex Luthor and Clark becoming pen pals; the four Robins taking turns passionately insulting the Bat-haters, with one literary young man wielding the sharpest pen...
