In the twenty-seventh year of the Xiliu Dynasty, a heavenly calamity struck. The spirits awakened, the martial world fell into chaos, the court was thrown into turmoil, and the people lived in fear.

At the time, the head of Liuxue Court, the greatest sect in the martial world, was the Heavenly Sage, master of the Snowflower Hall. Once known as “Snowflower” for praying for snow to save the people, he sealed the spirits with his own body. He died, leaving the court in ruins, but brought balance to the land. With all four branches in decline and no successors to take over, the legend of Liuxue gradually faded from the martial world. When Master Zhenling eventually died of old age, the court was officially disbanded, and its former glory vanished.

As the years passed, the martial sects continued to fight among themselves. Zhucang and Nanlan clashed and both fell, while Shuomen seized its chance to annex both sides. It took Ba Jiuli and eliminated Xiuluo, growing ever more dominant. As the historian Mo put it: “When the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman profits.” New sects rose one after another, and foreign peoples proliferated, some even daring to try to rule the Central Plains. Among them was Ximing, which once confronted Shuomen across a river, but was badly defeated and forced to retreat.

Thirty-nine years passed in the blink of an eye. Shuomen had become a formidable power, while the heretical Tianyu watched hungrily from the sidelines. Then someone believed to be a successor of Liuxue appeared in the martial world once more. Bloodshed and conflict were about to erupt.
