Desolate Courtyard

Long ago, a gifted member of a different race gathered boys and girls of exceptional promise as materials, and devoted every effort to creating spiritfolk. But they were treated as freaks, either killed or hunted down, sealed away or imprisoned. In the end, the spiritfolk vanished, leaving no trace.

A thousand years later, a court called Liuxue rose to power. It pacified Jiangnan and swept across the Central Plains, becoming a force to reckon with across the land. Cangzhu was struck pale, Nanlan changed color, Jiuli fell into decline, and Xiuluo crumbled. Shuomen coveted it, Caige investigated it, Wumeng avoided it, and Taoling sought it out. A storm of blood and violence followed, bringing one disaster after another.

The Fatekeeper sighed. This was the cause and effect of a thousand years, the curse of the spiritfolk, a burden impossible to bear or undo.

But was this the cause, or the consequence? Was Liuxue's rise a blessing or a calamity? And if the world fell into chaos, how could peace ever be restored...
