Zeng Yi woke from a cryogenic pod to find that Earth had passed through the apocalypse and entered the interstellar age, becoming a poor, insignificant planet.
Earth was devastated, its culture severed, and its plants and animals mutated. Adults and children alike could only eat plant roots containing toxins, and they could barely afford to trade with other planets for nutritional supplements.
The current village chief of Earth approached on trembling legs, holding out a bowl of unappetizing grass roots and looking at her kindly. "Ancestress, you must be hungry. Go ahead and eat."
Zeng Yi: ...What kind of miserable world is this?
At that moment, a variety show called [Planet Match-Up] was about to begin. The planet with the most popular contestant in each round would receive desperately needed resources and advanced technology.
Zeng Yi glanced at the complete archive of Chinese history and culture that the base commander had stuffed into her storage space back then. Her eyes gleamed, and she declared with boundless enthusiasm, "What are we waiting for? Sign us up!"
And so, the little impoverished planet rose to prominence, revolutionizing the stale entertainment scene of the entire interstellar world.
Short scenes:
Planet A: This is the Xixi grass from our planet. It can be used to make nutritional supplements in a new flavor.
Zeng Yi: Boys, chop up those three-headed chickens! I want braised drumsticks, big plates of chicken, three-yellow chicken soup, and marinated chicken feet!
Planet B: This is the skull of the greatest god of war in our planet's history. When I look at it, I can almost see his mighty frame.
Zeng Yi, holding a megaphone: As the saying goes, all under heaven must unite after long division, and divide after long unity...
Planet C: This is the finger-chopping game we antenna people have played since childhood. It's very fun. Everyone should try it.
Zeng Yi: Are you kidding me? Even mahjong has a rule that once you play a tile, you can't take it back!
The audience: ...This is actually pretty great.
