“Shiri, how could he do that?” Huilixiang's eyes were red from crying. Kishimoto had never seen her cry like this. Nan had really gone too far this time.

Although Kishimoto Shiri was Nan Lie's best friend, Huilixiang was also his childhood friend, and they'd grown up together. Nan was in the wrong, so of course he took Huilixiang's side.

“Nan probably didn't mean it like that. I'm sure he didn't intend for this to happen! Don't worry, I'll teach him a lesson when the time comes.” Kishimoto Shiri patted Huilixiang's shoulder and did his best to say something that wouldn't offend either of them.

At the time, Kishimoto Shiri genuinely had no idea the two of them would actually break up. He had never considered it a possibility, after all, he'd spent all these years watching them be lovey-dovey. But he wasn't wrong, either: Nan and Huilixiang made up again, though it took over a year.
