Warm Front Erosion

Chun Dieyu, who grew up eating at the homes of whoever would take her in, recently learned an online term for describing Zhuang Shuci: "a mom-coded guy." He's great at cooking all kinds of delicious food and is thoughtful and considerate. He won her stomach, and then her heart. When they meet again after years apart, old memories begin to resurface, along with the innocent, bittersweet feelings of a secret crush she can't bring herself to confess. This time, though, he is like a gentle yet forceful cloud of warmth, blending into her world without asking. He drives away the cold and loneliness, bringing a gentle spring. On a rare weekend when she doesn't have to get up early, Chun Dieyu sleepily eats the lean pork congee Zhuang Shuci specially brought over. As he tidies the clothes scattered across her sofa, Zhuang Shuci casually asks how things went with the blind date her father arranged a few days ago. She pauses, then tears apart one of the reassuring fried dough sticks Zhuang Shuci made himself and dips it into her congee. "I don't think it'll go anywhere." "Oh." He walks behind her and sets down the warm water in his hand. "Then would you consider me?"
