Content warning: This is an old-school amnesia trope story, written for my own enjoyment. Both the heroine and the hero suffer. Read with caution if that's not your thing.
[The hero's perspective]
Meng Xizhou, the young master of the Duke of Xian's household, is stern and aloof, a feared, iron-faced general in the army. Still young, he has won many battles and risen to a high position.
Rumor has it that the young master has no interest in women. He's past twenty-five, and not only has he never married, he doesn't even have a single concubine.
This has the old Duke and Duchess worried sick.
The Duchess slapped her thigh. "No way! I'm finding my son a match this year, come hell or high water!"
Meng Xizhou was dutiful and filial. Though reluctant, he agreed.
And so, the finest eligible girls from miles around were carefully selected, and everyone knew about it.
But just as the search for a daughter-in-law was beginning to make progress, shocking news broke.
The young master had been secretly keeping a young woman outside his home!
Sadly, she had already passed away.
That day, everyone in Bianjing saw the usually resolute and fearsome young master racing madly through the streets, eyes bloodshot, pounding on the doors of medical clinics.
[The heroine's perspective]
Shen Qingqing had lost her memory. By the time she remembered that she had transmigrated into a book, she was already living a blissful, shameless little life with a man.
His name was A Zhou. Though he came from an ordinary background, he was handsome and treated her wonderfully.
She loved him and was willing to stay in this world for his sake.
Until one day, someone gripped her by the throat and stood her in front of him.
"Only one of them can live: your mistress or Miss Qin. Who do you choose?"
"Miss Qin."
Only then did Shen Qingqing learn that A Zhou was actually Meng Xizhou, the cold-blooded villain from the original story.
He would rise to great heights and become a fearsome force across the land, and eventually... have wives and concubines in abundance, with Miss Qin as his principal wife.
And she, his first wife, would be reduced to a nameless, forgotten extra.
The next moment, Shen Qingqing smiled and drank the poison to the last drop.
Never mind. She was done with this!
Reader's guide:
1. Plot-focused, both leads are each other's first. Features the old-school amnesia trope. The blurb differs slightly from the actual plot.
2. Content warning: The plot is melodramatic, the characters change over time, the male lead stays the same, and the ending is happy.
3. The heroine has a bug that came with her when she transmigrated into the book. Also, she is not the male lead's mistress (emphasis added).
4. This is set in an alternate history. The author takes this story seriously and will revise it. Please don't bring pirated versions of the plot here to start arguments.
5. Both phrases used in the blurb to describe her death are idioms meaning that she passed away. The author chose the first because it fits the story better.
Theme: Spouses should treat each other with sincerity and be equals
First of all, congratulations on finishing spreading flowers!!! It's only been a little over a month, but it seems like we've been together for a long time and wanted to write something. Let's talk about something less relevant to the main text first. This is the first book I read. The reason why I encountered it can be said to be an accident. I suddenly wanted to read ancient novels, but I looked around in the section and couldn't find anything that I particularly liked. I saw it in the v-recommendations above my favorites. Although I wasn't particularly interested in the subject matter, I clicked on it by accident (perhaps because the cover was pretty). To my surprise, the title and copy of the book, which are not exaggerated, have made the general setting very clear: the ancient saying about chasing the wife in the crematorium, and the misunderstanding between the male and female protagonists are so clear; what Meng Gou does is obviously a traditional dog, but for some reason it is particularly annoying and underwhelming, it is so simple and unpretentious; then I fall into the trap. There was a time in the middle because Meng Gou was too embarrassed to beat his daughter and wanted to fatten up and even wanted to quit the trap. But every time I see Jiu Nianfei doing major repairs and minor repairs again and again, I feel that it is not possible and I have to stay. We can see the progress every time the article is revised, and we can also see the author's seriousness. Such seriousness is really embarrassing (face covering) The only fundamental mistake Meng Gou made was that he did not have the opportunity to figure out in time what was most important to him. Whose eyes and mouth are they in the capital? Are you dealing with the spies sent by Meng Tangying? Is it to fulfill the mission that his father has instilled in him since he was a child? This is also the reason why no one from the author to the readers to Qingqing regards him and Azhou as the same person (at least in front of the crematorium). Azhou understands that Qingqing is his world, but Meng Xizhou doesn't understand or know. There is no doubt that Meng Gou, who has just lost his memory, does not love Qingqing. In his memory, Qingqing is just a stranger. The memory of his body is not worth pondering and cannot be pondered in terms of his environment. From meeting Qingqing to drinking the poisoned wine, it was the process of him struggling to fall in love with Qingqing under the dual influence of Azhou and Qingqing himself, and also the process of him slowly changing his values. Qingqing's injuries were all caused when she accepted that he was not Azhou and didn't love her, because it didn't matter to her how the prince was, and the prince quickly made her understand the prince from the very beginning. It's not Azhou (.) Theoretically speaking, if Meng Tangying didn't cause more misunderstandings, Meng Gou would have succeeded in chasing his wife: in Chapter 46, Qingqing, who was dying, revealed the plot to him. It felt that she had actually regarded Meng Gou and Azhou, who fell in love with her, as the same person at this time, but Meng Gou had too many concerns and Meng Tangying had manipulated her, and his wife was gone. . . In short, the crematorium is where Meng Gou is taught how to be a good person and gets hammered at the same time. In comparison, the female goose is much clearer: what she wants is Azhou, who loves her wholeheartedly, or else she doesn't want him; but at the same time, she is reluctant to give up her lover, and this is the story of her entanglement. There are some places that are really well written!!! The subject matter is completely the most common crematorium of chasing a wife, but it has a lot of new ideas: the comparison between A Zhou and Meng Gou, the systematic setting to completely put the crematorium in place, the sober female goose watching her lover struggle with herself, the psychology of the character is basically clearly depicted, and there is no sense of "Huh? Why is this character doing this?" If I were to give you a perfect score based on the subject matter, I would give it as many points as I think you can give! But the logic does not make sense in some places. . . For example, when Meng Gou chose one of the two, he was really embarrassed at the time. Xizhou Zhiyi's story will belong to them from now on. Looking forward to more works from the author!!
The two sisters of the Qin family once heard the heroine's voice at the door of the clothing store and thought it was very familiar. Is there no explanation for this foreshadowing? And Red Bull brother was tricked by the prince and left, and there seems to be no follow-up
Watching the modern extras made me feel so stressed that I wanted to go back to ancient times and lie down
Nothing else, I just wanted to look at my subscription ratio. Some of the articles I read a long time ago I didn't like to jump on and buy.
Laughing to death, violating ideological and moral character
Deer antler is not a herbal medicine. It can be said to be a medicinal material.
Ohhh!!!! It turns out that I received an advance copy of this book because of Black Heart Lotus. I will always remember the feeling of reading Black Heart Lotus.
Damn, come on, it looks pretty.
Like it very much!! Finished reading! So my sister's scarves don't have as many fans as me!!!! Make a side story gkd
Ahhhhh, I like the Duke's wife so much, she is such a wonderful mother-in-law!
