[Sky: Children of the Light] The Kingdom Above

Yes, I've started yet another new story. As usual, it's a dark, self-indulgent mess, updated whenever I feel like it. I'm writing for my own enjoyment, so feel free to read casually. And since it's a dark mess, it's definitely extremely out of character. Proceed with caution. Here begins the first draft of the blurb... “After humanity, there will be no more light.” “The Children of the Light are the embodiment of light. They came down from the sky to the ruins of humanity, gathering the scattered light and freeing the imprisoned souls.” Every Child of the Light knows this from the moment they are born. But... “Then what?” The right answer should be to return the light they've gathered to the world. Once their mission is complete, the Children of the Light return to the sky. But my older brother, who should have returned to the sky long ago, came back. Covered in filth, accompanied by swarms of Dark Dragons and his silent, statue-like people. But my brother told me softly, “Then you die, taking the place of the ancestors' souls, imprisoned in Eden's endless night.” His tone was just like when he used to tell me stories before bed during our travels together. But my brother said, “Kaka, be good and come over here.” ...End of blurb... The title comes from the official name, “The Kingdom of the Sky.” I'm terrible at titles, so I just picked something at random. The inspiration came when I went to make a sacrifice and noticed that the statues were curled up in the same pose the Children of the Light use to shield themselves from the howling wind, flying rocks, and red rain. The Light Wings offered in sacrifice return to their original places. Countless golden figures of the Children of the Light appear on the path to resurrection. So I wondered: Is resurrection really a thing? The story switches between first and third person. I use whichever works better. This is a melodramatic, illogical, self-indulgent story. I'm happy to have a normal discussion, but please don't give me writing advice. And don't be sarcastic, because I'm the biggest chatterbox of all the Children of the Light, the sort who could flip over every crab in the entire Graveyard. 2021.1.14 Theme: Sweep away fate and be yourself again.
