A Blackout on a Stormy Night [Rekindled Romance]

Whenever people mention Gewu High School, everyone thinks of the two famous students who have led the grade rankings year after year.

Cheng Yi is notorious for being unruly. He tackles competitions, racing, off-road driving, and everything else, and he excels at it all, like a wild, untamable gust of wind.

Jiang Jinyue is worlds apart from him. She follows the rules, studies for exams and scholarships, and takes part-time jobs everywhere to help support her family, like a lone blade of grass growing in the wilderness.

The two are like parallel lines in distant worlds, each proud in their own way.

Until graduation, their only point of intersection is their tightly contested positions on the grade rankings.

Yet nobody knows...

After dark, they enter the same attic.

--

On a night of torrential rain and a power outage, after a family dinner arranged by their elders.

Cheng Yi flicks his lighter again and again. Its shifting flames illuminate the red marks on his neck as he smiles coolly. "You weren't this well-behaved when you called me Brother just now, after biting me last night."

Jiang Jinyue calmly leaves him speechless. "Then from now on, I'll only call you Brother. I won't bite you anymore."

With the rain pouring down, he kisses her without restraint. "Now that I'm your brother, shouldn't you bite even harder?"

And so, the girl who seemed to follow every rule takes hold of the most free-spirited wind in everyone's eyes.

Day and night, they are entangled without end.

Until Jiang Jinyue leaves alone, without looking back.

--

Years later, the once-struggling girl has become a sought-after rising star in her industry. To return to her home country, she willingly lets her former employer take more than a hundred million from her fortune.

Decisive and resolute, just as she was back then.

At their class reunion, their old friends all lament what a shame it is.

She smiles faintly. "I left with nothing, and I'll return with nothing. I'm just retracing the road I took to get here."

Unexpectedly, Cheng Yi, who had initially refused the invitation, appears at that moment.

He looks at her coldly and scoffs. "So President Jiang still remembers the road she took to get here?"

Jiang Jinyue smiles serenely and raises her glass to him.

Cheng Yi's expression turns frosty. The man who never touches alcohol begins drinking glass after glass.

After the reunion ends, just as Jiang Jinyue is about to walk away, Cheng Yi stretches out an arm and pins her against the front of a car, asking hoarsely, "Am I still on the road that brought you here?"

In the end, this free-spirited wind is still trapped beside this resilient blade of grass.
