The Sickly Villain Doesn't Want to Try Anymore

Xie Xia transmigrates into a book and becomes the vicious villain in a melodramatic rich-family novel. The original Xie Xia was adopted by the Xie family. He was frail but ambitious, bent on seizing his older brother's property and taking over the family business. He even wanted to kill his innocent-minded nephew, leaving his older brother without an heir. In the end, his brother could take no more and threw him out of the house. He died of illness on the streets. Having learned in advance about his tragic fate, Xie Xia decides to lie flat and become an unambitious loafer, staying out of the rich family's feuds and enjoying a peaceful retirement. At a family banquet, Xie Xia unexpectedly runs into his nephew. The other man's gaze is so innocent and harmless that Xie Xia feels guilty and turns to hide in the restroom. - To avoid being harmed by Xie Xia, Xie Hengyu has spent more than a decade pretending to be naive and clueless. But lately, he has suddenly noticed that his gloomy-tempered little uncle seems to have changed. He has willingly withdrawn from the family feud and given up power, seemingly determined to become a loafer who lives off others and waits to die. He often sits by the floor-to-ceiling window, basking in the sun with a thermos in hand, and occasionally gives a faint cough. His pale face is the picture of peace and contentment. It makes you... want to bully him. At the family banquet, Xie Hengyu corners Xie Xia, who has hidden in the restroom. Cruelly snatching the glasses perched on his nose, he leans close to his ear and whispers, “So, have you decided to let me off?” Seeing the terror in the other man's eyes, Xie Hengyu acts even more cruelly, trapping him with his arm. For the first time, he reveals the nature he has hidden for years. “But I have no intention of letting Uncle off.” - Later, after being thoroughly bullied by Xie Hengyu, Xie Xia bites his lip, his eyes red with regret.
