Reborn in Republican-Era China: Spoiled Rotten

[Blurb] In the depths of winter, a catastrophe struck the Yang Family Martial Arts School. The school’s master, Father Yang, died in an accident. The school’s reputation was ruined, it was saddled with enormous debts, and its rivals poached its students, who left in droves. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, Yang Wen, the Yang family’s second daughter, fell seriously ill. With the martial arts school on the verge of collapse and her younger siblings still learning to talk, the eldest Yang sister was deeply worried. Then, after recovering, Yang Wen, usually so quiet and reserved, suddenly seemed to have a change of heart. She cut off her braid, put on a short martial arts outfit, and looked her sister earnestly in the face. “Don’t be afraid, Sis. I’ll take care of the Yang family.” The eldest sister felt her forehead and muttered, “You don’t have a fever. Why are you suddenly talking nonsense? I’d better ask that old doctor to come take another look. What if this is a lingering effect of your last fever...” Later, Yang Wen did exactly as she promised, holding up the Yang Family Martial Arts School amid the turmoil of a war-torn age. A wealthy merchant came to town looking for bodyguards. He was extremely generous, saying that as long as they did the job well, they could name their price. Yang Wen thought, A fat sheep has fallen from the sky. If I don’t fleece him now, when will I? She never imagined that the fat sheep would be the benefactor who had saved her life in her previous life. Fifth Master Huo: “I never treat my people unfairly. Ask for whatever you want.” Yang Wen: “A-anything I want, you can give me?” What could a young girl want other than money or power? Fifth Master Huo thought little of it and nodded. “I h-heard that you haven’t married yet, Fifth Master?” “...” “...Never mind.” Before he could reply, Yang Wen suddenly cut him off and pouted. “There’s no hurry. We can take our time.” From then on, Fifth Master Huo had a young bodyguard at his side, a serious girl who valued his life more than her own. Theme: Stay optimistic and make the most of every day!
