Drinking With You (Mouse and Cat Fanfiction, Flash Fiction)

Poem by Chaoge

Song of the Diviner: Wine West of the City

A gentle rain washes the traveler's robe; pale fingers join a bronze flute. Listening to the wind and rain, I cross the Bian River bridge, crushing the floating duckweed in the pond beneath my feet.

Quietly, I retrace my steps, searching for meaning; through this fleeting life, I grow old as my heart desires. I’ll let you know early, dressed in blue: we’ll savor huadiao wine west of the city.

Kitten, year after year, all I ask is to get drunk with you

Yutang, life after life, all I wish is to be by your side, drunk together

[Note: The poem was written for my story by my dear friend Chaoge. She explained that using huadiao wine here was a last resort for the rhyme. Nuerhong wine just wouldn’t fit into the verse, so please bear with me and let huadiao stand for wine here.]
