Ode to Joy: Life Blooms Like Summer Flowers

A famous quote from American psychologist Erich Fromm goes: "Immature love says, 'I love you because I need you.' Mature love says, 'I need you because I love you.'"

Immature relationships believe, "I love because I am loved." This kind of love is conditional: you have to meet my needs before I'm willing to love you.

A mature intimate relationship is always about, "I am loved because I love." You cherish each other, take the initiative to consider one another, care about each other's feelings, genuinely want the other person to be happy, and let them be themselves.

When you mistake "practical needs" for love, relationships become transactional. Some people take your kindness for granted, expecting you to be at their beck and call whenever they need you. When they don't, they'd rather you stay far away and not disturb their lives.

Mature love isn't about forcing anything. It's a lasting sense of comfort. Many people believe long-distance relationships make feelings gradually fade, but studies show that long-distance couples can maintain their passion over time. They may even trust each other more and become closer.
