Synopsis: How can such a vile, ungrateful betrayal even happen in this world?!
A bug has appeared in the world. As a member of the Space-Time Maintenance Bureau, XXX is always rushing between worlds, delivering golden fingers and warmth to the protagonists. During maintenance, staff members become imbued with the protagonists' fortune. To better nourish the worlds with that fortune, staff members usually choose a graceful way to kick the bucket, then take their leave and head back home.
And so the story begins.
Hey, you there! Why'd you kick my lunchbox when I didn't do anything to you? Damn it, I worked my butt off delivering golden fingers to you, and this is how you repay me, by stabbing me in the back?!!
Man, you're getting in the way of my promotion, my raise, and my rise to the top!
World 1: They say loading a template helps you complete your mission, so XXX downloaded one from headquarters.
After loading the White-Clad Expert template, he discovered to his horror that... he only had fifty lines. According to an incomplete count, lines like "Ridiculous," "Nonsense," and "How dare you" made up most of them.
"..." Oh, and this one, too. ←
How am I supposed to save a down-and-out you with only fifty lines?
Damn it! Try teaching the protagonist when you can't even talk! Don't go making random guides when you don't know what you're doing! Who the hell is setting up a newbie like this?!
World 2: Having learned from his previous life, XXX gave up on taking the lazy route and loading a template. This time, he got into the thick of things himself and put together a guide.
First, the perfect golden finger should be an AI System. I am Pigeon AI. I have no feelings.
However, the plan was perfect. Reality was harsh.
Maybe he'd been holding in a whole lot of things he couldn't say in the previous world. When it came to putting the plan into practice, XXX discovered he was a rational, talkative AI :)
No big deal. The persona of a cold, dispassionate AI who's amazing at gathering intel and analyzing data was firmly established.
As expected, when it was time to kick the bucket: "According to System calculations, there are 398,664 possible outcomes at this point. Of those, 348,996 are infeasible and can be ignored. In 49,147 outcomes, we are destroyed outright. Of the remaining 521, in 500 you will be grievously injured and die despite treatment..."
"So there's no escape. We're going to die here?"
"No. There's one other possibility."
The optimal solution from the System: sacrifice the System so the Host can survive unharmed.
In reality:
XXX: "According to System calculations..."
The protagonist: "According to System calculations, there are 398,664 possible outcomes at this point. Of those, 348,996 are infeasible and can be ignored. In 49,147 outcomes, we are destroyed outright. Of the remaining 521, in 500 you will be grievously injured and die despite treatment. In the last twenty-one, the System will perish to give me a chance to survive."
"???" Damn it! You're stealing my lines now, too! Did you read my script?!
The protagonist: "Out of tens of thousands of possibilities, 521 don't involve dying on the spot. Only twenty-one give me a chance to survive."
"The 521 are the possibilities where you love me. The twenty-one are the instinctive ways you love me."
"..." I never said that.
The protagonist: "I won't let you die."
"…" Aaaah, let go of me! Damn it, I risked life and limb for you, and this is how you stab me in the back?! What's wrong with you protagonists?!
Theme: Sincerity is best met with sincerity.
