An old story.
Reposting it here.
I deleted a lot of censored content when moving it over, so the plot might not flow smoothly.
I won't revise it for now. I'll fix it when I have time.
My new novel, The Wife Who Came to My Door, is being updated. Feel free to check it out.
Bai Xuan happily came to the human world, ready to eat. I'm going to swallow ten two-legged beasts in one bite! Fist pump! But a group of people calling themselves the Monster Administration stopped him and sweet-talked him into signing a spirit contract. They even gave him books like The Modern Monster's Guide to Civilization and Law, An Introduction to Chinese Characters for Young Children, Chinese Pinyin, and Learn Mandarin Well and Travel the World Without Worry...
Ye Heng owns Yunsang Dining, one of the country's top three restaurant chains. One day, a strange boy ate a meal at one of his restaurants without paying. Ye Heng happened to be there and let him off the hook. From then on, it was as if something strange had attached itself to him.
A snow-white little fox suddenly appeared in Ye Heng's yard.
The little fox brought him gifts every day: chestnuts, pretty leaves, glass beads he'd picked up, rabbits stolen from a farm? Roast chicken stolen from a restaurant? The neighbor's pet mini pig? The neighbor's two-year-old toddler... His gifts became increasingly bizarre.
This couldn't go on, so Ye Heng called the animal protection association. That night, the staff came to stake out his yard with all their equipment and waited for half the night, but they didn't see so much as a glimpse of a fox's tail.
Bai Xuan was furious. That very night, a white fox jumped onto Ye Heng's bed. The next second, a handsome young man was sitting there.
From then on, Ye Heng embarked on the baffling life of a doting dad raising a kid.
Bonus Scene:
Assistant: "Mr. Ye, the front desk called to say someone is here to see you."
Ye Heng glances over. "Do you need to report something like that to me first?"
Assistant: "He says you're his dad."
Ye Heng rushes downstairs.
Bai Xuan is sitting obediently on the sofa, holding a tablet and watching cartoons.
Ye Heng strides over and exclaims, "How did you follow me here?"
Bai Xuan throws himself into Ye Heng's arms and yells, "Dad! Dad! Don't leave me behind. I'll be good."
The ladies at the front desk and the special assistant who followed him are left speechless, their jaws on the floor.
Mr. Ye has a son that old?
Clearly not.
Everyone shares a knowing look: Mr. Ye sure knows how to have fun.
Ye Heng peels the clingy pest off him. "Where did you learn that?"
Bai Xuan points at the tablet.
Confiscated.
Mr. Ye, what made you take on the responsibility of raising an ancient ferocious beast? Was it the brilliance of human nature?
Ye Heng: "I didn't want to raise him, but he called me Dad."
Bonus Scene Two:
Little Bai Xuan: "You have so many people living here. What's so bad about adding one more, me?"
Ye Heng: "Uncle Li, the butler; Auntie Li, the cook; Auntie Lin, the cleaner... What can you do?"
Little Bai Xuan: "I-I can fight."
Ye Heng: "Xiao Chen and Xiao Guo are bodyguards. I don't need anyone else to fight."
Little Bai Xuan: "Then what do you need?"
Ye Heng's five-year-old niece leans in and whispers mysteriously: "Little Uncle needs a wife!"
Little Bai Xuan, at full volume: "Then I'll be your wife!"
