Synopsis:
Lin Jian is a notorious troublemaker among the rich second-generation crowd. He skips class, gets into fights, and stays out all night. He does it all, and everyone says the young master is a lost cause.
When Old Master Lin falls gravely ill, he worries that after he's gone, no one will look after his youngest grandson. Only by finding him a powerful protector can he close his eyes in peace.
After much thought, he turns to Yi Shensi and proposes a marriage between their families. "You've watched him grow up. I wouldn't trust him to anyone else."
·
Yi Shensi is the head of the Yi family. He is stern, aloof, and unsociable.
Everyone in their circle knows that Yi Shensi and the Lin family are close. Lin Jian grew up under his shadow, and whenever he sees Yi Shensi, he is like a mouse facing a cat.
When Lin Jian learns he's supposed to marry Yi Shensi, he packs his bags and flees in the middle of the night. The man catches him at the airport and hauls him home by the scruff of his neck.
Staring at the marriage agreement on the table, Lin Jian asks him to confirm, "We'll divorce once Grandpa recovers. You promise?"
He doesn't notice Yi Shensi's eyes darken. "As long as you behave."
His friends think Lin Jian has been acting strange lately.
The young master who used to be so carefree no longer comes home late or picks fights. He's unbelievably well-behaved. Every day, before nightfall, he turns down all his invitations and rushes home, as if someone is waiting for him there.
Later, someone sees the unsmiling man drape his suit jacket over the scowling young master outdoors in the dead of winter.
·
There is someone in Yi Shensi's heart. When the Yi family drove him out and forced him to study alone in a foreign country, that person traveled thousands of miles to find him, just to say, "Yi Shensi, happy birthday."
But later, that person grew afraid of him and stopped getting close.
Until one day, the Lin family proposed a marriage alliance.
No one knew that beneath his calm, composed exterior, his emotions surged. He lowered his eyes and said, "Fine."

Extra scene:
One day, Lin Jian gets caught coming home late. As soon as he steps inside, he sees the ruler in Yi Shensi's hand glinting coldly.
Lin Jian's knees go weak. He shouts defiantly, "Yi Shensi, you can't hit me! You're my husband, not my dad. This is domestic abuse... Wait, why are you taking off your tie?"
Yi Shensi looks at him calmly. "I'm disciplining you as your husband."
Lin Jian: "...?"
The next morning, Lin Jian wakes up clutching his lower back and grimacing. "Yi Shensi, damn it, you might as well be my dad."
