The Poor Little One

When the new school term began, Shu Lin got a new deskmate. His deskmate was a handsome, tall transfer student, with eyes that seemed to hold stars. Unfortunately, his deskmate had lost his mother at a young age. His stepmother was cruel, and his father had turned against him. He was always hungry and cold, often beaten, and covered in bruises. He was so pitiful. Feeling sorry for him, Shu Lin secretly brought him breakfast and milk, along with an endless supply of snacks and fruit. His cheeks flushed red as he gathered his courage and said softly, "Be with me, and I'll take care of you, okay?" Gu Lingjue looked at the food on the desk, his expression complicated. "Can you afford to take care of me?" Shu Lin said, "My family is rich. I'll never let you go without!" Gu Lingjue's expression was unreadable, making Shu Lin's palms sweat. At last, his deskmate broke into a smile and said, eyes curved, "Sure." But one day, the Shu family went bankrupt. Shu Lin moved from a huge villa to a cramped rental apartment, and debt collectors showed up every day to demand payment. Shu Lin could no longer afford school. Before dropping out, he still remembered to buy his deskmate breakfast. With tears in his eyes, he told Gu Lingjue, "This is the last time I'll buy you breakfast. I can't take care of you anymore." Gu Lingjue pressed his lips together. "Then I'll be with someone else." Terrified, Shu Lin vowed to pay off his debts before his deskmate could get together with someone else. He swallowed his sadness and begged everyone he could for money, but they all turned him away. Finally, with no hope left, he went to the famous Gu family. When he arrived, the head of the Gu family was sitting in the main seat. It was his poor, pitiful deskmate. Gu Lingjue smiled at him. "Be with me, and I'll take care of you?" Shu Lin: QAQ??? - It was only after meeting Shu Lin that Gu Lingjue learned someone could love him so much.
