A Cure for Awkward Flirting

The school bully is handsome, comes from a rich family, has a middle-schooler complex, and never studies. On the first day of school, he falls in love at first sight with his deskmate.

Bully: Kiss me and I’ll let you out.

Deskmate: (Tapping the person in front) Excuse me, can I get through? (Pushes the desk forward and slips out through the gap.)

Bully: I’m downstairs at your place with a present for you. If you don’t come down, I’m not leaving!

Deskmate: (Calls 110) Hello, someone followed me home and is blocking the entrance.

Bully: (Pins him against the wall) Believe me, I really will kiss you!

Deskmate: I believe you. It’s no big deal if a dog licks you once.

Bully: I really like you. What would it take for you to notice me?

Deskmate: You don’t really like me. I’m just the object of your fantasy. Your pursuit is only making you feel good about yourself, and you don’t respect me at all. This isn’t a healthy intimate relationship.

Bully: Then teach me what a healthy one looks like?

Deskmate: Sure.

Bully: Really?

Deskmate: Today’s first lesson is: Even if you love someone desperately and give them your whole heart, they might not care at all, and they don’t owe you anything.

Bully: ...

“If I work hard to become a better person, will you look at me more?”

“Become a better person for yourself, not for anyone else. But sure, go ahead.”
