Bok Choy

This novel is also known as The Butterfly of Nanyang and Stealing Clothes in Nanyang Song Song is an orphan who has worked as a servant for a wealthy family in Nanyang since he was very young. The family has a young master who visits his maternal grandparents in Nanyang every winter and summer vacation. Song Song falls for him at first sight, captivated by his face. Song Song's favorite thing to do is eavesdrop on the young master talking on the phone with his classmates. Sometimes he gets so absorbed that he forgets his chores and gets harshly scolded by the family's long-serving workers, even taking a few slaps across the back. But he keeps eavesdropping, and even imitates the young master's way of speaking. He thinks his voice and accent are lovely. Sometimes he deliberately strikes up a conversation with the young master, saying mean things to his face. He knows the young master has a good temper, so whenever no one's around, he bullies him mercilessly, playing pranks like putting soy sauce in his coffee. But the young master never minds, which makes Song Song furious. He thinks the other boy looks at him as if he were a tree. No, maybe even a tree could catch the young master's attention. He can't. Once, at a family gathering, he put soy sauce in the young master's coffee. The young master took a sip, and his expression changed at once. Someone immediately asked what was wrong. From his corner, Song Song thought the young master would finally expose his prank this time, and a strange excitement surged through him. But the young master quickly composed himself and gently said it was nothing. His excitement crumbled to dust. He thought the whole thing was utterly pointless and resolved to stop this childish, prank-filled crush. But then he wanted to do something to prove that his crush had existed, something he could brag about to others when he was old. So he stole one of the young master's shirts. He thought the other boy had so many clothes that he would never notice one was missing. But on the night before the young master was due to return to school, he unexpectedly called out to Song Song. "Song Song, that shirt is my school uniform. Pick another one." It's probably a fluffy, sweet romance. I want to write a pure love story set in the heat of summer. Theme: It was only after meeting you that I wanted to become a truly, truly good person.
