My daily life is completely unremarkable, and today is no exception. At seven in the morning, the Evil of This World inside me wakes me from my sleep. Then, still half-asleep, I brush my teeth and wash my face. It grumbles and curses the whole time, while reaching out black mud tentacles to hand me my toothbrush cup and towel. At seven thirty, the Hope's Peak fan next door rings my doorbell. We go to the same school, so we're often on our way there together. Every time we part, for some reason he always exclaims, "Ritsuka, you're so lucky!" At eight, I arrive at school, ready to start studying, only for the alarm to go off: a time bomb has been found on campus, and everyone starts evacuating. The bomb happens to be somewhere I can see, and when I take a look, I realize it's a model I know how to defuse. So I head against the flow of people and disarm it on the spot. At eight ten, the police arrive, and a curly-haired officer comes to the scene. I tell him I need to get to class and ask if I can skip giving a statement this time. He smiles and says no, then thanks me for saving his friend before. At eleven, after giving my statement, I take my banner of appreciation back to school and start eating the bento Emiya made. His cooking is really good. I'm trying to think of what kind of over-the-top compliment will get me an even tastier bento next time. At four in the afternoon, I'm walking home. It's raining, and a pink-and-white creature that looks like both a cat and a dog appears in front of me. I tilt my umbrella slightly, just enough to keep the raindrops from falling on its head. It smiles and asks me, "Ritsuka-chan, do you have a wish?" I don't know if a creature like this is theoretically capable of talking, but the Natsume family has a talking cat, too. I decide that it talking is perfectly normal. So is its knowing my name. I don't really want anything, so I think it over and answer: "World peace." "Would you become a magical girl and save the world?" the strange but adorable creature asks, tilting its head. The rain grows heavier. I blink, then bend down. "We can talk about that later. What I'd really like to know is whether you have somewhere to stay." "Honestly, there's nowhere for me on Earth." "Then do you want to come to my house?" I hold out my hand. Kyubey jumps onto my shoulder. Anyway, now I have a cat, too. Notes: 1. First-person narration. My take on a reincarnated Ritsuka, who often brings strange things home. Some Heroic Spirits appear. 2. Everyone is a Ritsuka fan. Slice of life, with a wish-fulfillment setup. 3. The CP is Schrodinger's cat. Theme: Finding your own path
