Waking up amid the roar of artillery, Jiang Yu, owner of a Republican-era grand hotel, discovers that she has arrived in a peaceful era a century later. The original owner died suddenly from working 996, with an overtime computer and fast-food delivery sitting in front of her.

Jiang Yu tries a bite of the takeout and leaves a review on the delivery app: "Awful."

The restaurant replies: "If you can do better, do it yourself."

Jiang Yu rolls up her sleeves and gets to work.

Outside the university district, college students line up in front of her stall, all for a bowl of golden, extra-large fried rice that's a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate.

On a parenting variety show, her homemade, super-sweet smoked plum lollipops instantly win over countless little ones.

At a conference-center restaurant, her refreshing osmanthus honey cakes make foreign guests exclaim, "Fantastic!"

In this new era, Jiang Yu reopens her Republican-era grand hotel and renames it the Prosperous Era Grand Hotel. Business flourishes and thrives.

One day, a competitor quietly hovers outside the door. "Boss Jiang, please take me in."

Jiang Yu waves a hand. "I'm busy. I have to cook."
