Synopsis for "Forceful Pursuit":
1.
Lu Xi first met Shen Kuo at her uncle's wedding.
He leaned against the window, the light from the crystal chandelier falling across his face. Dashing and carefree, he caught her eye at once.
From then on, Lu Xi went to great lengths to engineer chance encounters, all so Shen Kuo might look her way a little more often.
On her eighteenth birthday, she worked up the courage to confess her feelings, buoyed by alcohol.
The man glanced at her, lit the cigarette in his hand, and replied in an even tone, "Sorry, I don't date little girls."
Lu Xi fell silent for two seconds, then suddenly grabbed his collar and kissed him.
The girl coughed uncontrollably, choked by the strong smell of smoke, but still stared at him defiantly. "What about now? Do you still think I'm a child?"
But her bold move ended up making a fool of her.
2.
They met again at a banquet. Lu Xi stood among the crowd in a qipao, having blossomed into a dazzling, elegant beauty.
Her aunt asked her, "Have you taken a liking to anyone? I can ask your uncle to introduce you."
For no particular reason, Lu Xi thought of Shen Kuo. Standing by the balcony, she couldn't resist lighting a cigarette. She shook her head. "I like mature men."
After her aunt left,
Shen Kuo appeared behind her without her noticing, casually took the cigarette from her hand, and tossed it to the ground.
He pinned her in a corner. "You like mature men? How about me?"
"Sorry," Lu Xi said with a faint smile. "Anyone but you."
You think you missed out on one person, when in fact you missed out on an entire life.
The leads have a six-year age gap.
After a long separation, the story should have gone down the road to heartbreak, but Shen Kuo turned the car around and headed home instead.
