Word around the circle was that Song Mingzheng had finally had enough of his wife, who’d been paralyzed for ten years, and had shown up at a lavish banquet with a new lover. Impeccably dressed, he still looked as dangerously charming as ever.

Someone got drunk and let his mouth run. “Third Master, you really know how to play the game. I hear your wife’s heart and lungs have been failing lately. Out with the old, in with the new. Congratulations!”

Song Mingzheng crushed his jaw.

Just the name He Tingzhao was enough to turn Song Mingzheng into a rabid dog in an instant.

He Tingzhao had been at Song Mingzheng’s side since he was sixteen. He took a potentially fatal blow for him and was left paralyzed from the neck down. Over the next ten years, Song Mingzheng’s reputation spread all the way to Europe, farther than his father’s had ever reached. He acquired estates all over the world, yet stayed where he’d met the love of his life. He Tingzhao couldn’t leave, though. He could only lie in bed.

“I chose to make that sacrifice.”

Until he realized that everything Song Mingzheng had done was for him.

“A-Zheng, we’re not afraid.”

Song Mingzheng had never denied it to himself. Without He Tingzhao, he’d be a scumbag with no restraints or morals, capable of anything.

“I’ve committed too many sins in this life to make it into heaven. I’m not afraid of dying, but I’m terrified, terrified that after I die, there’ll be no world with you in it.”

Song Mingzheng knelt outside the operating room. He was afraid he couldn’t snatch He Tingzhao back from Death. He was afraid of spending the rest of his life alone.

Because of He Tingzhao, there were too many things Song Mingzheng feared.

He was Song Mingzheng’s entire world.
