The Delinquent Top Student

Ye Xuran from Class 8, Grade 10, at Xiling High School has become famous throughout the school lately.

Not just because he came first in every grade-level ranking last semester,

but also because, for three weeks in a row, he has read his personal apology aloud at the flag-raising ceremony.

The school rules he has broken include, but are not limited to:

skipping class to go off campus for late-night snacks, sleeping and playing on his phone during class,

letting the whole class copy his finished homework, and handing in blank papers for all five subjects.

The grade director was heartbroken. "Ye Xuran, are our questions not difficult enough? Why won't you answer them?"

Ye Xuran stood in the hallway being reprimanded, but didn't tell the truth.

Actually, he just wanted to meet someone in the very last exam room.

The midterm exams for the second semester of Grade 10.

Ye Xuran finally got his wish and sat behind Zhang Mu.

He nudged the seat in front with his foot and whispered, "Hey, classmate, I can pass you the answers."

Zhang Mu gave him a cool look, then raised his hand after a moment. "Teacher, I'd like to report this student for cheating."

Everyone knows Zhang Mu, the handsome slacker who is a sports student,

but nobody knows he was admitted to Xiling High School through its financial aid program.

Zhang Mu's parents both died. His grandmother passed away when he was in ninth grade,

leaving him with only his grandfather, who has mild Alzheimer's, to depend on.

His bleak, colorless life began to regain its saturation after he met Ye Xuran.

They take turns being the pursuer and the pursued.
