The Real Heiress Is a Brilliant Cook

After transmigrating, Gu Yunxi became the fake heiress who had been wrongly accused in an ancient-era story about a real and fake heiress. The Gu family wasn’t constantly out to get her like families in those stories usually were, but they didn’t care about her, either. They assigned her a small courtyard, told her not to cause trouble, and left her to fend for herself. Gu Yunxi didn’t mind. In her previous life, she had been a chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant, working herself to death for half her life. Now she could finally rest. All she wanted was to eat and drink in peace and enjoy a quiet retirement in this secluded place. Red-oil wontons, rice steamed with cured pork, crispy roast chicken, oil-splashed noodles, sweet taro milk cake, and crisp peaches infused with tea. Every day was heavenly. But transmigrating had come with a System, and it wasn’t about to let her have things her way. First, it told her to win over her second brother, who had come looking for a fight. Then it ordered her to win over the fake heiress, who had been hostile and wary of her ever since she arrived. Finally, it even went after her cold-faced, grim-reaper-like eldest brother and the unapproachable old madam. Fortunately, the System’s rewards were generous. Using all sorts of plausible methods, it supplied Gu Yunxi with ingredients unknown in this era, so she could enjoy a life of never having to worry about food in ancient times. Who could have guessed that all she’d done was win people over to complete the System’s tasks? At a banquet hosted by the Empress Dowager, someone insulted the young lady the Gu family had just brought back, thinking they were currying favor with the Gu family’s eldest daughter. Instead, the entire Gu family turned on them. “Who gave you the nerve to criticize my youngest daughter, my little sister, my precious granddaughter?” Theme: Stand on your own two feet
