Older kids mocked him because An was a coward who had once run away in a panic after meeting the Champion. Even after being bullied, he would rather hold the cat he’d found and cry than fight back. His parents, who were often away from home, had entrusted him to a guardian who called himself “forever eighteen” and was more like an uncle. The man crouched down and ruffled An’s hair, his foot still planted on one of the bullies. “The best way to understand someone is to become their enemy... I think that’s how the saying goes? Anyway, go get closer to your idol.” Later, An met the Champion’s rival and remembered what his guardian had once told him. A look at all this rambling and the PS: 1. Short and fast-paced, set in the Galar Region from Sword and Shield. Most characters are based on the games, and the story wanders outside the original plot. No Gym challenge and almost no battles. It’s a clichéd, melodramatic, rather bland and fluffy slice of life, with a little main plot now and then. Some familiar lines have been adapted from the characters’ original dialogue and backgrounds to fit their personalities and the current story. 2. My skills are limited, so OOC is inevitable. I’m working hard to improve. The romance may not be written very well, but it’s hard to spot flaws and awkwardness in my own work. If you notice any major problems, please point them out freely. I’d be extremely grateful! 3. Mostly daily life, written on a whim. A peaceful life, with an intentionally low-key feel, including the battles that are practically standard in Pokemon stories. (Not because my fighting and plot-writing skills are so bad I’d get ground into the dirt... Okay, actually, that’s exactly why.) I’m trying to write the romance in detail, so I may overdo it. 4. Original elements and OOC coexist. This is just for fun, so don’t scrutinize it. When I get excited, I write without thinking. 5. This male protagonist is on the weak side, and his personality changes because of what he goes through. If you don’t like this type of character, dear readers, please take your complaints out on the good-for-nothing author alone. 6. The guardian is a background cheat, a matchmaker, and a plot device.
