I Got a Happy Ending with My Ex-Boyfriend's Best Friend

Everyone knows just how much Lin Yiyao loves Chen Yanqing.

Love at first sight, three years of secret pining, two years together.

They made it through graduation-breakup season and weathered the difficult early days of his startup together. Now they were talking marriage, and Lin Yiyao was full of hope for their future.

But everything fell apart when Chen Yanqing's childhood sweetheart came back into the picture.

Lin Yiyao thought he was cold and aloof, the kind of man no one could make anxious or flustered.

She had been wrong. The person who could make him lose his composure, accommodate her, and shower her with affection simply wasn't her.

On her birthday, Lin Yiyao dresses up, ready to propose to Chen Yanqing, but a call from his childhood sweetheart makes him get up and leave.

"Jiaojiao cut her hand. I'm taking her to the hospital. Whatever you wanted to say can wait."

Just like countless times before, Lin Yiyao is left behind. Her heart finally goes cold, and she breaks up with him.

Chen Yanqing frowns, says nothing, and leaves.

After drinking a whole bottle of red wine alone, Lin Yiyao wanders along the road when a birthday greeting from He Youlin suddenly arrives.

Lin Yiyao freezes. Thinking of how Chen Yanqing admires his good friend, the rising star of the business world He Youlin, she impulsively calls him. "I heard your family is pressuring you to get married?"

A low male voice responds with a puzzled "Mm."

"What do you think of me?"

At the other end, He Youlin looks at the six gifts in his cabinet that he never got around to giving her. He tightens his grip on his phone and says hoarsely, "...Okay."

Loving Lin Yiyao was the most audacious thing the restrained and proper He Youlin had ever done. Being with her was the best decision of his life.

When Chen Yanqing learns the two are together, he refuses a call from his childhood sweetheart and gets drunk for the first time in his life.

Following his instincts, he calls Lin Yiyao. "...Yao Yao, will you come back?"

After a long silence, a familiar but cool male voice comes through the phone. "She's your sister-in-law now."
