The Judge's Little Koi

Born into the Mo family's embroidery business, Miss Mo neither embroiders mandarin ducks nor flowers. She prefers sewing corpses back together. Her family says she's possessed and drives her out, leaving her to fend for herself.

But when a gruesome dismemberment case shakes the capital, the daughter cast out by her family becomes a top female coroner and rises to great fame.

At the crime scene, Huo Qi covers his eyes with a handkerchief. What could a mere woman know about examining a corpse? She'd be better off going home to her embroidery needles.

Mo Nian sneers: That's still better than someone who faints at the sight of blood. You even tremble all over when you see spicy blood-curd tofu.

Later, at a spicy blood-curd tofu street stall...

Huo Qi leans in. "Miss Mo, I have a case I'd like to discuss with you..."

Mo Nian holds out her hand. "Five taels to determine the cause of death, ten to sew up a corpse. If an official is hiring me, the fee is double. And since you're here, how about three bowls of spicy blood-curd tofu? Care to find out how delicious it is?"

Theme: Let the wronged have a voice, and may peace reign throughout the land.
